Major Yankees Win TOC Game 1

METRO MAJORS YANKEES FEND OFF BRIARWOOD PIRATES'S LATE PUSH, HOLD ON FOR 8-7 TOC WIN

Thanks to a 5-run fifth inning in which they scored 5 runs while batting through the order, the Metro Major Yankees were able to withstand a sixth-inning comeback bid by the Briarwood Pirates on Tuesday night.

Rashaun Bowden shut down the Briarwood Pirates while he was on the mound. The Briarwood Pirates managed just one hit off of Rashaun, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out six during his four innings of work.

Lougan Meyer homered with one on in the fifth inning, and Samik Singh nearly added another, hitting the fence.

The Yankees took an 8-3 lead into the sixth inning, and needed all of that cushion as the Pirates' bats came alive in a furious comeback bid.  The Briarwood Pirates scored four runs in the sixth, on an RBI single and a bases-clearing 3-run double. With 2 outs and the tying run at third base, a diving catch by Brennan Kelly at the warning track secured the victory for Metro.

The Yankees now move on to face Mountain View on Thursday, at Sunnyvale Southern's Faber Field at De Anza Park.

Major and Minor Playoff Update #2

MAJOR AND MINOR PLAYOFF UPDATE FOR JUNE 9th 2016

Hi Everyone, here is an update on the playoffs going on this week at Raynor Park!!  Please see updated Brackets on our Facebook page!

Minor Playoff update:

The Minor Championship game is tonight!!!

Bring the family and come out and cheer on the #1 seeded Red Sox battling the #3 seeded Pirates!

The Pirates earned their way into the championship by saving their best game of the season for the playoffs. They defeated the A’s Tuesday night, who were the hottest minors team coming into the playoffs. Ethan Ley pitched a complete game shutout taking a perfect game into the fourth inning and a no hitter into the fifth inning. Ethan finished giving up just one hit and one walk. The Pirates set the tone early with strong defense highlighted by Sandy Gottfried fielding three hard hit balls at third base. Offensively the Pirates had big hits from Tom Landzaat, Kiran Dias, Alexander Ott, and a walk off hit to end the game by Ben Bobick.

Congratulations to the A's players and coaches as their season comes to an end.

Major Playoff update:

On Monday night the #1 seeded Yankees faced off versus the #2 seeded A's. The game featured the Yankees Rashaun Bowden muscling up and hitting his 1st playoff home run, and 7th overall, to give the Yankees the lead early on. The Yankees pushed the lead to 9-2 by the 6th inning. But the A's had a lot of fight left and scored 5 runs in their half of the sixth inning. With the potential tying run on base, the Yankees were able to put the game away, retiring the last batter on a hard fly ball caught by the centerfielder. That victory sends the Yankees to the Championship game on Friday night.

The A's would have to get right back at it on Wednesday night versus the #3 seeded Giants in a rematch of Saturday's 6-5 A's victory, with both team's seasons on the line.

The A's jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead but Giants were able to plate 3 runs to take the lead in the 3rd inning. The Giants were able to add on runs to make it 8-2. Giants Pitcher Shin Nakamura was sharp and didn't allow another run after the first to throw his first complete game of the year.

The loss ends the A's season and an big congratulations goes out to the A's players and coaches on a great season!

The Major championship game match up is now set for Friday night at Raynor with the #1 seeded Yankees set to battle the #3 seeded Giants. First pitch is 5:30pm.

Be sure to come out with the family to cheer on and support the players.

Major and Minor Playoff Update!!!!

MAJOR AND MINOR PLAYOFF UPDATE FOR JUNE 6th 2016

Hi Everyone, here is an update on the playoffs going on this week at Raynor Park!!  Please see updated Brackets on our Facebook page!

Minor Playoff update:

On 5/31 the #1 seeded Red Sox defeated the #4 seeded A's 2-0.

On 6/1 the #3 seeded Pirates upset the #2 seeded Giants 7-3.

That set up a winners bracket game on Sunday of the Red Sox vs. the Pirates. The game was a close one with the Red Sox hanging on to win 4-3 with the potential tying and go ahead runners on base in the top of the 6th.

Congratulations to the Red Sox who advance to the Championship game on Thursday night.

On the Elimination side of the bracket, the A's defeated the Giants 6-2 on Saturday afternoon to stay alive. The Giants season ends with the loss. Congratulations to the Giants players & coaches on a great season.

With the A's win and the Pirates loss on Saturday, that sets up an elimination game on Tuesday evening at Raynor with those two teams seasons on the line.

The winner will play the Red Sox Thursday for the Minor championship.

Please come out to the park this week to support these teams shooting for a championship.

Major Playoff update:

On Saturday the #2 seeded A's defeated the #3 seeded Giants 6-5. The A's jumped out to a 4-0 lead but the Giants fought back to go ahead 5-4. The lead didn't last long as the A's retook the lead, scoring two runs in the 4th to go up 6-5. They were able to hold on to that lead for the victory after a Giants threat in the top of the 6th inning came up short.

The A's move on to play the #1 seeded Yankees Monday night at Raynor.

The winner moves on to the Championship game Friday night while the loser will face the Giants on Wednesday night in an elimination bracket game with both teams seasons on the line.
